Maid Marian
by: Thomas Love Peacock (Author)
Additional Information:
Author's Note: "This little work, with the exception of the three last chapters, was written in the autumn of 1818."
Peacock claimed to have written all but the last three chapters of Maid Marian before the publication of Sir Walter Scott's Ivanhoe, which was published in December 1819 (officially 1820). Peacock's novel was delayed due to his position with the East India Company. His note, therefore, indicates to readers that Maid Marian is original and not derivative.
