Pardoner's Tale by Geoffrey Chaucer
by: Bronislaw Bak (Artist)
Additional Information:
Bak's fine art edition of the Pardoner's Tale features oversize woodcuts. These tend to be dark, primarily black with figures marked out in white. The human figures are stylized, formed mostly out of geometric shapes, and these features appear in the foreground, with the background often featuring bricks, clouds, or occasionally buildings. (One street scene toward the beginning of the book is particularly complex.) Bak's 82 woodcuts are physically quite large.
