Robbins Library Digital Projects Announcement: We are currently working on a large-scale migration of the Robbins Library Digital Projects to a new platform. This migration affects The Camelot Project, The Robin Hood Project, The Crusades Project, The Cinderella Bibliography, and Visualizing Chaucer.

While these resources will remain accessible during the course of migration, they will be static, with reduced functionality. They will not be updated during this time. We anticipate the migration project to be complete by Summer 2025.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us directly at robbins@ur.rochester.edu. We appreciate your understanding and patience.

The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer: A Selection

Publisher Location: New York
Publisher Name: Henry Holt and Co.
Publication Date: 1988
Additional Information:
This children's retelling features the tales of the Knight, the Miller, the Reeve, the Nun's Priest, the Pardoner, the Wife of Bath, and the Franklin, along with part of each pilgrim's character description from the General Prologue.  Cartwright's illustrations include full-page illustrations for the tales; character portraits; and half-page illustrations depicting particular moments of the tales.  (For example, in the Knight's Tale, Emily appears in the garden, with Palamon looking down from his prison.  In the Reeve's Tale, the wronged Miller and his wife shake spoons at the two students who ride away in the background of the image.)  These color images appear on nearly every page of the work.
