Additional Information:
This much-abridged version of the tales contains the Wife of Bath's Tale and the Clerk's Tale.  In addition to headpieces for each tale, eight illustrations depict central scenes from the two tales.  The Wife of Bath's Tale shows the ladies at court, the knight encountering the old hag, and the knight's return to court with the hag; the Clerk's Tale includes Griselda in her simple garb, Griselda in her court finery, the woodsman taking Griselda's child, Griselda's return to her father's home, and the happy reunion of the entire family.  These drawings have details emphasized in blue, such as some clothing or drapery on buildings at court.
